The person must be a professional, experienced and hard working in order to maintain the high level of cleanliness expected at the principals residence. We are searching for a strong candidate with strong management skills because in this role, the successful candidate will manage a team of 2 housekeepers. The family require a high quality trained German Speaking house manager who has had experience working in a fully staffed household whilst conducting themselves professionally with an awareness of the family’s privacy.
Please note all applicants must have the right to live and work in EU and possess a strong level of written and spoken English / German.
The fully staffed private estate consists of 1500 sq.m home with 3 adults and 3 children residing at the property.
The duties and responsibilities of the German Speaking head housekeeper would be to look after the property, purchase all the amenities and maintain high standards of cleanliness and comfort. Knowledge of fine fabrics, laundry, ironing and other general housekeeping duties are part of the responsibilities.
It is important to be an effective communicator to work well with and manage the other staff. A professional head housekeeper who understands how to motivate the housekeeping team and improve their effectiveness.
This job will not be solely management orientated as the ideal professional will also be hands on. The principals are looking for a person who can lead by example and show the other staff how things should be done.
The ideal candidate must be well organised, worked for a minimum of 5 years as a head housekeeper in a private family home and who understands the flexibility needed in this type of role. A person who is confident in using their own initiative and who has a good eye for detail.

Working Day: 5 days / week
Working Hours: 8am - 5 pm
Location: Vienna, Austria
Languages: German, English
Starting Date: ASAP
Due to Brexit we can only accept candidates with a "leave to remain" and/or documentation supporting their stay and permission to work in the UK. Only candidates who have the eligibility to work in the UK will be considered for this role.
Travelling with the family during the school holidays is required. Due to COVID 19, all applicants will already be vaccinated or willing to be vaccinated.
Responsibilities of the German Speaking Head Housekeeper Job:
- To manage all the remaining stuff
- To purchase all the amenities such as household chemicals, consumables, firewood, equipment needed for all the remaining stuff etc. Mostly online-purchases
- To receive, unpack an allocate all the deliveries
- To change towels, lining, paper tissues, bathroom amenities etc. All the items have to be refilled upon consumption
- To do laundry and ironing
- To clean the shoes
- To manage services provided by third parties: dry cleaning (incl. house stuff like curtains, carpets etc.), shoes repairing, household appliances repairing etc.
- To maintain household appliances: to clean coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine, iron, filters changing for refrigerator, kitchen hood etc. All the works have to be done according to the instructions provided by the manufacturers
- To sort and take out the garbage
- To order food and beverages (on request)
- To cook the food / to help with cooking (on request)
- To manage the cars: washing, fuelling, repair (on request)
Live IN Head Housekeeper Job Requirements::
- Minimum of 5 years similar work experience
- Excellent checkable references
- Fluent German and English
- EU working permit
- Relocation to Vienna, Austria
