This picturesque rural location is known for its historic estates, tranquil countryside, and traditional English charm. The family has grown-up children and travels frequently, meaning the property is often unoccupied.
This role is ideally suited to a trustworthy and hardworking housekeeper who takes pride in maintaining high standards in a quiet and refined environment, with particular care given to antique furnishings.
Working as a Housekeeper in a private countryside residence requires a high level of attention to detail, discretion, and independence. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the home, despite many rooms being used infrequently. Special care must be taken when handling antique furniture and preserving the condition of the property. There are no laundry or cooking duties required, allowing the housekeeper to focus entirely on cleaning and upkeep.
There is also an opportunity for additional hours for candidates who are interested in assisting with light outdoor duties, such as supporting the upkeep of the garden or horses.

This is a countryside position, therefore a driving licence and access to a vehicle would be highly beneficial due to the rural location and limited public transport options.
Main duties of the Part-Time Housekeeper:
- Cleaning and maintaining the property to a high standard, ensuring all rooms remain fresh and presentable despite infrequent use.
- Caring for antique furniture and delicate surfaces with appropriate cleaning methods and products.
- Dusting, vacuuming, and polishing throughout the home with attention to detail.
- Monitoring the condition of the property and reporting any maintenance needs.
- Ensuring the home is ready for the principals’ arrival at all times.
- Providing additional support with outdoor tasks such as light gardening or assisting with horses, if agreed and desired.
- Demonstrating a reliable, discreet, and proactive approach at all times.
Requirements for this Part-Time Housekeeper job:
- Three or more years of private housekeeper experience
- Two excellent checkable references
- Conversational English
- UK working permit
