Job Overview:
A lovely family based in Hinton Charterhouse, Somerset, is seeking an experienced and reliable housekeeper to join their household for a temporary full-time role. This prestigious estate is home to a small family with children and one dog. The position offers the opportunity to work in a beautiful and private location surrounded by stunning landscapes. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced in working with delicate materials such as marble and gilded furniture.
The family’s home consists of 10 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, a pool house, a workshop, and a coach house, offering a diverse and varied work environment. As a housekeeper, you will be part of a team that includes a chef, nanny, three other housekeepers, and a house manager, ensuring a smooth and efficient running of the household.
This is a temporary, full-time, live-out position based in Hinton Charterhouse, Somerset, starting on 21st of July 2025 and ending mid-October 2025, with the potential for a permanent role as another housekeeper will be going on maternity leave. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and care throughout the property, ensuring the property’s marble, gilded furniture, and expensive clothing are handled with the utmost attention to detail. This role offers a supportive and team-oriented working environment with no cooking duties.

Main duties of the Full-Time Housekeeper:
- Maintaining cleanliness throughout the 10-bedroom, 9-bathroom house, including the pool house, workshop, and coach house.
- Ensuring marble surfaces and gilded furniture are properly cleaned and maintained with appropriate care and products.
- Managing laundry duties, including washing, ironing, and folding clothing.
- Tidying up the staff area in the main house.
- Supporting the team of housekeepers, nanny, chef, and house manager.
- No cooking, pet care, or child care involved, except for occasional tidying after the family’s dog.
- Occasional help with cleaning other areas of the house, including the kitchen, living, and dining rooms.
Requirements for this Full-Time Housekeeper job:
- Three or more years of private housekeeper experience
- Two excellent checkable references
- Conversational English
- UK working permit
