The friendly family in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, is seeking a day nanny to join their bustling household on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. They have children of various ages: a 16-year-old, 11-year-old twins, a 6-year-old, and a 9-month-old. Your primary responsibilities will be looking after the 6-year-old and 9-month-old girls, with the twins also present on Wednesdays and weekends. You will work alongside the parents, as part of a well-structured household team, to meet the family's needs. The utmost importance is placed on maintaining the family's privacy and confidentiality.
Preferred, but not mandatory, is an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare for the ideal candidate. Comfortability with pets is required as the family has 2 dogs. Familiarity with child development and current educational approaches is desired. Demonstrating both systematic and creative thinking is crucial. Patience, flexibility, and a genuine affection for children are indispensable qualities. Excellent communication and time management abilities are necessary. Exuding kindness, courtesy, and a positive disposition is a must. Being able to effectively manage stress and resolve conflicts is vital. Possessing physical capability to care for a young child is also essential.
The ability to adapt and be versatile is crucial in this role, as there may be chances to travel internationally with the family for vacations and excursions. Duties of a private nanny job will include:
- Helping children maintain good hygiene, including bathing, brushing teeth, and dressing appropriately
- Changing diapers and assisting with potty training
- Organising and engaging children in educational and recreational activities that promote their physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development
- Developing schedules and routines to ensure children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime
- Arranging a playdates and day trips to be taken out and about to places such as the farm, zoo, go ape, trampolining, rock climbing etc
- Encouraging the children to keep their bedrooms tidy
- Taking the children to school, nursery and appointments
- Assisting the children with homework
- Keeping records of children’s progress, routines, and interests
- Assisting with cooking, ensuring that meals are prepared and ready for the family
- Collaborating and assisting the household team with general housekeeping duties, including laundry, cleaning, dishwashing, and changing of linens
- Running errands
Requirements for a nanny:
- Minimum of 3 years similar work experience
- Perfect references
- UK working permit
- Full UK Driving Licence – car provided for while on duty
