The couple are required to provide housekeeping and cooking for the private family as well for various other enterprises on the estate. The estate includes beautiful gardens open to the public, a home farm, and picturesque hills, lochs and rivers to explore and enjoy. The estate is a wonderful location for a couple who enjoy the outdoors and stunning scenery. Other members of staff work and live on the estate.
A housekeeper will be expected to perform general cleaning duties to a high standard for a large historic house and to work directly to the wife of the owner of the estate. A cook will be responsible for preparing family meals, diner party and corporating food as well as preparing food during the summer for a small tea-room. The successful candidates will have responsibility for the main household, liaising directly with the family. This position will have backup and support from the housekeeping and maintenance team.
Clean driving licence and good use of spoken English required.
The successful candidates should be country loving, positive, friendly, flexible, non-smokers and have a genuine passion for housekeeping and cooking. They should also be children/family friendly and hold current clean driving licenses.

The Position Type: Full Time Live In Couple Job
Salary: Negotiable (Calculate your Salary)
Working Day: 5 days per week
Working Hours:
- Housekeeper: 8.30am – 5.00pm, including Saturdays (approximately 3 per month) except for special events which may involve weekends and some evenings on a split shift basis. Days off will be given in lieu of weekend working.
- Cook: a 5 day week, will include split shifts and weekends during busy times of the year
Location: South West Schotland
Language: Fluent English
Starting Date: ASAP
Accommodation: live out in a three-bedroom apartment in an adjoining property to the main house
Bonus: council tax + pension + heating bills + 28 holidays holiday
Due to Brexit we can only accept candidates with a "leave to remain" and/or documentation supporting their stay and permission to work in the UK. Only candidates who have the eligibility to work in the UK will be considered for this role.
Travelling with the family during the school holidays is required. Due to COVID 19, all applicants will already be vaccinated or willing to be vaccinated.
Housekeeper Jobs Duties may include:
- Housekeeper / domestic cleaning to a high standard for a large historic house
- Shopping and laundry
- Provision of security for the house
- Household management, e.g. dealing with part-time cleaners, contractors and tradesmen when required
- Supported by maintenance and estate office
- Management and maintenance of three holiday cottage lets and a small team of cleaners
Occasional other duties include:
- Front of house service for corporate events, weddings, sporting parties and future house opening
- Driving
- Occasional child-minding
Duties for a Cook:
- Cooking – able to cook delicious, healthy meals for the family and for occasional private entertainment
- Preparing food during the summer for a small tea-room
- Keeping kitchen clean and organised
- Comply with all Hygiene, Health & Safety Legislation
Live In Couple Jobs Minimal Requirements:
- Previous working experience as a couple
- Full clean driving licence / own car essential
- Good English speaker
- Energetic, thorough, organised, kind, warm, flexible and good with children
- Cheerfulness and experience in similar positions
- Experienced, highly organised, flexible and discreet
- CRB checked
- Country loving
- Self-motivated and able to work as part of a team
- Work will be busy at times and will suit an intelligent energetic person who is happy to be part of a developing business
